At Camden Music, we take pride in offering our students high-quality performance opportunities. We believe in the power and joy of making music with others, and our Saturday Centre Summer Choral Concert beautifully reflected this ethos.
On Saturday 10th May, over 100 singers captivated a packed audience at the historic St Martin’s Church in Gospel Oak. This Grade I listed church, renowned for its atmospheric charm and exceptional acoustics, offered the perfect setting for choral singing.
The concert held particular significance as nine Year 13 students—some of whom had joined CamJam in Year 1—gave their final performance before departing for their exams. They surprised the audience with a heartfelt rendition of Grow, paying tribute to their remarkable journey, which for some spanned up to 12 years with the choir.
Our talented conductors—Ros Savournin, Ezra Burke, Kwan Ruangtrakool, and Lis Stewart—along with accompanist Matt Brooks, presented a diverse and engaging programme. The repertoire featured traditional songs from New Zealand and Korea, an original composition by A-Level student Rudy Baker titled You and the Moon, and the Shona wedding song Chiro Chacho to close the concert.

The youngest ensemble, CamJam Voices, performed their pieces with striking emotion, with Ken Berg’s Galop standing out as a highlight. The Saturday Singers, made up primarily of Camden parents, delighted the audience with a traditional Slovakian song and Orlando di Lasso’s O Occhi, Manza Mia, demonstrating impeccable tuning and vibrant tone.
The concert concluded with a spirited performance of Chiro Chacho, arranged by Ros and accompanied by Ezra on guitar. This grand finale brought together all the choirs and featured a dynamic djembe rhythm section performed by our A-Level leavers, creating a truly unforgettable occasion.
