Our 2024 Primary Cluster Festival saw children sharing singing at local host schools and continued to raise the profile of singing across the borough.
In June, we held four concerts featuring twenty-two schools and nearly six hundred students from primary schools from Holborn to Hamstead. The children presented their own songs ranging from Mercy, Mercy, Mercy to the folk song Rattling Bog. In addition to this the children sang four songs as a massed choir.
Sing with Joy: A part song which features three separate parts for the children to sing.
Cuckoo: Benjamin Britten’s gentle two-part song was really helpful for the children in developing their pitch and lyricism.
Jazz Pick and Mix: In which children got to lead parts of a four-part structure.
Little Bird: The song was written by a student at UCLH whilst they were recovering from treatment. The words focus on being free and use the image of a bird flying.
“We really enjoyed the event, and the children sang beautifully.”
‘”It was a fantastic opportunity to share singing with other schools in the borough!“
