What is a Music Development Plan?
A Music Development Plan is a strategic document that outlines your school’s vision, goals, and actions for enhancing music education. It serves as a roadmap to ensure that all students have access to high-quality music education, helping them to develop their musical skills and appreciation.
School Requirements
To create an effective Music Development Plan, schools should:
- Assess Current Provision: Evaluate the existing music education offerings, including curriculum, extracurricular activities, and resources.
- Set Clear Objectives: Define what you aim to achieve with your music program. This could include increasing student participation, improving the quality of music teaching, or integrating music more deeply into the school culture.
- Develop Action Plans: Outline specific actions and initiatives to meet your objectives. This might involve professional development for teachers, purchasing new instruments, or organizing music events.
- Allocate Resources: Identify the resources needed, including funding, staff time, and physical space.
- Monitor and Evaluate: Establish a process for regularly reviewing progress and making adjustments to the plan as needed.
